Welcome to LPL Financial and the Office of Tim Dierkes

Two Questions, Please:

  • Are you looking for help to save for your Retirement in a measured, diversified, and risk-adjusted manner?
  • Are you trying to solve the puzzle of how to structure your financial resources during Retirement to maintain a desired, cost-of-living-adjusted lifestyle while simultaneously not outliving those resources?

If the answer to either question is "Yes", then Tim may be able to help you.

One of the first principles to understand when you are planning for your goals, whether savings or spending, is that there are financial aspects that you have various levels of control over.

The 6 (six) financial aspects that you usually have very limited or no control over are:

  • Inflation
  • The Tax Code
  • The Markets (i.e. Stock Market, Bond and Money Market, Derivatives, Alternative Investments, etc.)
  • Interest Rates
  • Adverse Health Circumstances
  • When You Die

The 4 (four) financial aspects that you usually have some control over are:

  • Your Income
  • Your Expenses
  • Your Debt
  • How you structure your savings and investments

The next principle to grasp is that these aspects can sometimes result in unexpected complications for your investment and savings plan, especially in the spending phase. One good example of this that may occur during a spending phase is called Systematic Withdrawal Risk (also sometimes known as Dollar-Cost Ravaging.) This can be a serious, goal-altering complication. Please click on the Info Box for relevant examples of this potential problem.

As you can imagine, given the number of financial aspects you have some control over vs the number you have limited or no control over, your savings and spending goals can run into many unanticipated challenges.

So, how can Tim be of service? Good question.

As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ Practitioner, Tim takes these 10 (ten) financial aspects into account (and other relevant factors) to help his clients build independent financial and investment plans. This is done in a deliberate and collaborative manner to help address their financial concerns and goals. In doing this he also helps to establish a realistic set of expectations and benchmarks against which to measure his clients' success, as well as utilizing a needs-based, risk-management process to implement appropriate recommendations as necessary. Tim believes this is a prudent approach to follow, and that there are no short cuts - not if you are serious about trying to pursue your financial goals in a measured, diversified, risk-adjusted manner.

If you are interested in this type of approach and working with an independent financial professional like Tim - who has over 29 years of experience - please call our office to make arrangements for a complimentary consultation. What we discuss will be considered confidential, and Tim will do his best to make sure that your time together is useful to you. An initial appointment will usually last up to an hour, and we promise to listen to your concerns and strive to achieve a true understanding of your situation.

We look forward to meeting with you.
